How much does a bar or bat mitzvah montage cost?
The short answer
On October 30, 2026, one studio's packages ran from $349 to $2,499, and another's montages started at $900. Made yourself in a free video editor, it costs only your time. A Glim film costs $24.90 to $105.90 if you're buying from outside Israel, before any sales tax or VAT where you live, or ₪79 to ₪349 in Israel.
What a montage costs, three ways
We read two montage studios' own sites again on October 30, 2026. They're small businesses, so we don't name them; the table gives their prices in US dollars, as their sites showed them.
A montage here is the film of photos shown at the party. Filming the celebration is a videographer's job, priced on its own, and so are entrance and save-the-date videos, and reels of guests' video messages, which one service sells for $79 per event, so the table leaves them out.
| Who makes it | Price | What you do | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| A montage studio | $349 to $2,499 at one studio, by package; from $900 at another | Gather the photos and clips, send them, and approve the edit | A montage edited for you |
| You, in a video editor or app | Free on a free plan; paid plans vary | All of it: scanning, choosing, ordering, editing, music, and titles | A slideshow as you made it; a free plan may add a watermark or export at a lower resolution |
| You, in Glim | $24.90 to $105.90 outside Israel, before tax; ₪79 to ₪349 in Israel | Choose the photos and put them in order, write the titles, and pick the music; AI sets the photos in motion | A film of 1 to 7 minutes, as an MP4 file in Full HD |
Glim's dollar prices are for buyers outside Israel, before any sales tax or VAT where they live; its shekel prices are for buyers in Israel and are final. Last checked .

What raises a studio's price
One of the studios says it plainly: “there is no single price. The cost depends on length, how many photos and clips you send, and which add-ons you choose.” Here's what the two studios' sites showed.
| What adds to it | What we saw |
|---|---|
| Length and number of photos | Named as a price factor by one studio; the other's least expensive package is $349, and its montages include 125 photos, and more can be added |
| Video clips | Named as a price factor by one studio |
| Movement in still photos | $175 extra at one studio, for 5 photos or more |
A studio whose price list doesn't mention a rush fee or extra rounds of changes may still charge for them, so ask, and ask how long it takes. Last checked .
What to ask a studio before you book
- How many photos and minutes are included, and what does each extra photo or minute cost?
- How many rounds of changes are included, and what does another round cost?
- Which music will they use, and may you play it at the party and post the film online? The songs guide explains the rules for montage music.
- Who scans the prints? If you're sending originals from abroad, how do they travel there and back, and who insures them?
- Which file will you get? Ask for a landscape (16:9) MP4 in Full HD for the screen, and a copy for phones.
- How long does it take, and what does a rush cost?
- Will a logo or a watermark show in the film?
- How much is the deposit, and what happens if you cancel?
Whoever makes the film, play the file on the venue's screen, or send it to the DJ, a few days before the party.
When a studio is worth the money
- You want interviews: grandparents telling stories, a brother or sister speaking to the camera. That takes filming and editing, not only photos.
- You want footage of the celebration itself, such as the entrance, the candle lighting, and the dancing. That's a videographer's job.
- You'd like someone else to do all of it: collect, scan, choose the music, and edit, while you only approve.
- You want a long film, ten minutes or more, with chapters, video clips, and a lot of text.
- Your prints are torn or badly damaged and need fixing by hand.
When most of what you have is photos, and you'd rather choose them and put them in order yourselves, a film in Glim costs less than any studio price we read, and the choices stay yours.
What a Glim film costs, by length
You pay once, by the length of the film, with no subscription, and animations never expire. To see it work before you pay, your first animation is free, with no credit card.
| Film | US dollars, for buyers outside Israel | Shekels, for buyers in Israel | Animations |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 minute | $24.90 | ₪79 | 12 |
| 2 minutes | $45.90 | ₪149 | 24 |
| 3 minutes | $59.90 | ₪199 | 36 |
| 5 minutes | $84.90 | ₪279 | 60 |
| 7 minutes | $105.90 | ₪349 | 84 |
Every package comes with an AI opening, a personal song, written and sung with AI, and as many free retries as animations. Films of 5 minutes or more also come with the event pack: the film in landscape, square, and vertical versions, a download page for the DJ, and a printable QR card for the tables. For a shorter film it's $5.90 (₪19 in Israel).
In a Life Story film each animation is the transition from one photo to the next, so a 5-minute film of 60 animations takes 61 photos. In a Classic film each photo is one animation.
If you need more, 5 more animations, with 5 retries, are $8.90 (₪29 in Israel), and 20 more retries are $8.90 (₪29 in Israel).
If you're buying from outside Israel, pay in US dollars; you choose the currency before you pay. Outside Israel, any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live is added at checkout and shown before you pay. In Israel, the price in shekels is the final price, with nothing added by Glim. Glim charges no fees. Payment goes through Freemius, a US company, and some card companies charge their own fee for a payment abroad or in a foreign currency.
Example: one five-minute film, three ways
A five-minute film for Talia's bat mitzvah
Example
Talia's parents want a five-minute film for the screen at the party, from about 60 photos, baby pictures to today. By the prices we read on October 30, 2026:
- Made in a video editor: 60 photos at 5 seconds each fill five minutes. On a free plan it costs nothing but their time, though a free plan may add a watermark.
- From a studio: one studio's least expensive package was $349, with 125 photos, and movement in still photos was $175 more. The other studio's montages started at $900. Ask each for a quote for 60 photos and five minutes.
- In Glim: a 5-minute film is 60 animations, so a Life Story film takes 61 photos and a Classic film 60. It costs $84.90 if you're buying from outside Israel, before any sales tax or VAT where you live, or ₪279 in Israel, and comes with the event pack and a personal song, written and sung with AI.
A studio's price pays for someone else's time and taste. In Glim or in a video editor, the choices and the order are yours.
When you can do it yourself
- If you have the time, a slideshow made in a free video editor costs nothing. Give it an evening or two: scanning, choosing, and timing the photos to the music take longer than the editing.
- Three or four photos a year, about 40 to 50 photos for a 12- or 13-year-old, at four seconds each make a film of about three minutes.
- Export a landscape (16:9) MP4 in Full HD and bring it on a USB flash drive, with a copy by link in case the drive fails.

Questions and answers
How much does a bar mitzvah montage cost?
On their own sites on October 30, 2026, one studio's montage packages ran from $349 to $2,499, and another studio's montages started at $900. Made yourself in a free video editor, it costs only your time. A Glim film costs $24.90 to $105.90 if you're buying from outside Israel, before any sales tax or VAT where you live, or ₪79 to ₪349 in Israel.
How much does a montage cost in Glim?
It depends on the length: $24.90 for a 1-minute film if you're buying from outside Israel, before any sales tax or VAT where you live, or ₪79 in Israel, up to $105.90 for a 7-minute film, or ₪349 in Israel. You pay once, with no subscription, and your first animation is free, with no credit card.
Can I make a bar mitzvah montage myself?
Yes. A slideshow of still photos costs only your time in a video editor on a free plan, if you have an evening or two. A free plan may add a watermark or export at a lower resolution, so check before the party. In Glim your first animation is free, with no credit card.
Why do studio prices vary so much?
Because a studio sells its time. Length, the number of photos and video clips, and add-ons such as movement in still photos all change the price, as one studio puts it, and filming interviews or the party itself is a different job from editing photos. Ask each studio what its quote includes.
Is sales tax or VAT included in Glim's price?
Not in the dollar price. Outside Israel, any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live is added at checkout and shown before you pay. In Israel, the price in shekels is the final price, with nothing added by Glim.
What should a studio's quote include?
The number of photos and minutes, the rounds of changes, the music and whether you may play it, who scans the prints, the file you'll get, how long it takes and what a rush costs, any logo or watermark, and the deposit and cancellation terms.
